Lawrence Okolie Hires SugarHill Steward as New Head Trainer

Former WBO cruiserweight champion Lawrence Okolie has hired SugarHill Steward as his new head trainer.

The 30-year-old Okolie (18-0, 14 KOs) is coming off a unanimous decision win over David Light in December. He is now set to face unbeaten WBO cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia (22-0, 17 KOs) in a unification bout on March 11 in Australia.

Okolie has been training with Steward, the nephew of the late Emanuel Steward, since January. Steward is best known for training some of the world's best fighters, including Lennox Lewis, Wladimir Klitschko, and Anthony Joshua.

"SugarHill is a great trainer and I'm really looking forward to working with him," Okolie said. "He has a wealth of experience and knowledge, and I believe he can help me take my career to the next level."

Steward said he is excited to work with Okolie, who he believes has the potential to be a world champion.

"Lawrence is a talented fighter with a great work ethic," Steward said. "I'm confident that I can help him achieve his goals."
